The Anti-Terrorism Act allows American victims of designated foreign terrorist organizations — such as FARC — to seek damages in U.S. courts by seizing the assets of the terror groups (or their allies) in the U.S.

But there's a hitch: Gorrin was never allowed to challenge the claim because the court order seizing the property on behalf of plaintiff Antonio Caballero was, inexplicably, never unsealed after 30 days as required.

The Fisher Island condo and another in the Porsche Design Tower worth $14 million are both now owned by LLCs belonging to Caballero — but the judge's order prevents him from selling them.

To be sure, these properties aren't likely to return to Gorrin any time soon.
Even if Caballero doesn't succeed in proving Gorrin is an "agent or instrumentality" of FARC, all of his U.S. properties have been frozen since 2019 due to sanctions.https://t.co/hmXFQDtGna
